Oil soluble Sodium Sulfonates with average molecular weights ranging from 415 to 550. These products provide both emulsification and corrosion protection properties to a variety of metalworking lubricating oil formulations. Both natural and synthetic sodium sulfonate products are available.

SYNSUL™ 445N
Synthetic Sodium Sulfonate
Synsul™ 445N is a medium molecular weight sodium sulfonate derived from a specialty alkylate to ensure consistent performance quality. This product is easily formulated into soluble oil bases, semi-synthetic fluids and other metalworking compounds as an emulsifier and rust inhibitor.
SYNSUL™ 455BR
Branched Sodium Sulfonate
Synsul™ 455BR is a unique medium molecular weight sodium sulfonate derived from a branched alkylate. This product is easily formulated into soluble oil bases, semi-synthetic fluids and other metalworking compounds as an emulsifier and rust inhibitor. The branched structure aids in inherent bio-stability. Therefore, fluids derived from Synsul™ 455BR may exhibit longer fluid life than those formulated with either linear or natural sodium sulfonates.
SYNSUL™ NA Series
Synthetic Sodium Sulfonates
Synsul™ NA is a series of synthetic sodium sulfonates of various molecular weights. These products are carefully and selectively manufactured to ensure consistent quality with little variation from batch to batch. The lower molecular weight products, Synsul™ NA 420 and Synsul™ NA 450, have good affinity for water making them excellent components in emulsifier packages. The higher molecular weight products, Synsul™ NA 480, and Synsul™ NA 535, have less affinity for water thereby imparting rust and corrosion inhibiting characteristics. The advantages of these products include lower viscosity for ease of handling, lighter color, and greater batch-to-batch consistency.

Oleum Sulfonated Synthetic Sodium Sulfonates
Synsul™ 415, 450, and 500 are oil soluble, oleum sulfonated synthetic sodium sulfonates. Synsul™ 415 and 450 have good affinity for water making them excellent components in emulsifier packages. Synsul™ 500 displaces water, making it a good rust and corrosion inhibitor component.
NSP Naturals™ 450, 500, 550
NSP Naturals™ 450, 500, and 550 are oil soluble “natural” sodium sulfonates derived from the sulfonation of specific solvent neutral base oils. These products do not contain any aromatic polynuclear hydrocarbons, carboxylates, asphaltenes or chlorinated derivatives. All NSP Naturals™ products offer the formulator excellent solubility, emulsification, and anti-corrosive characteristics due to the broad molecular weight distribution of these products.
